Become an MVP!

The Children's Museum is looking for energetic teens and adults who want to share their talents by joining our team of amazing volunteers. Our volunteers run activities during special events, help keep our museum galleries clean and sanitized, read books during story time, and more! Along with having fun and giving back to the community, you will be helping us provide excellent customer service to our guests, as well as building valuable skills that will help you in college and beyond.

MVP Requirements

  •     Be friendly, enthusiastic, reliable, and independent
  •     Age 14 or older
  •     Able to follow museum policies and procedures
  •     Able to commit to at least 2 shifts/month (approximately 5 hours total)
  •     Must attend volunteer orientation and training
  •     Volunteers 18 and older must complete a LiveScan fingerprint/background check.

How do I get started?

To become a volunteer, you must attend a volunteer orientation and training.

Orientation: Wednesday, January 7th, 2026, from 6:30 – 8 pm OR Saturday, January 10th, 2026, from 10:00 am – 11:30 am (pick one)

Training: Saturday, January 24th, 10:00 am – 12:00 pm

Internships

Internships at the Children's Museum at La Habra are geared towards college students and recent graduates who are interested in playing a direct role in inspiring today's youth and gaining real-world experience. Our internships are typically offered in the fall, spring, and summer, and we accept applications year-round. 

All applicants should be organized, self-motivated, and have excellent people skills. Internship positions are on a voluntary basis only. Interns will assist with general operations, as well as duties within a specific area of interest.

We accept interns for the following departments: Exhibits technician, Early Childhood Education, Development/Fundraising, and Marketing/Public Programs.

Applicants must:

  • Be a current college student or recent graduate in a field related to one of the departments above
  • Submit a resume and cover letter
  • Interview with museum staff
  • Commit to a minimum of 8 weeks, 8 to 12 hours per week (flexible schedule)
  • One day of formal training, plus additional departmental on-the-job training
  • Have reliable transportation
  • Pass a LiveScan background check (paid for by the Museum)
